55% of americans believe that Snowden was a whistleblower, while 33% believe he was a traitor.
Snowden was a NSA contractor who leaked classified files from the U.S about how they are spying on U.S and other nations citizens without their knowings.
The america I believe knows the difference between right and wrong. Some people do things that may be bad out of spite, some do it so that people will know about whatever is happening, and some people do it for their own good.

Some people will do really bad things out of spite.  For example, julian assange, who is wanted by Sweden and the United Kingdom and is stuck inside the united kingdom, but because he got asylum from Ecuador, the Ecuadorian embassy is the only place he can be safe in because EU laws don’t apply there. He would go to Sweden to face trial,(extradited)  but Sweden has not denied that they may transport him to the U.S, because he had leaked videos of the U.S gunning down unarmed Afghani citizens on his website, “WikiLeaks”. He has also leaked military secrets which could hurt the U.S and may have required undercover agents to relocate. Some of these happened after he became trapped in the Ecuadorian embassy. He has grown even more bitter about being stuck there and has tried to arm the U.S to strike back at them for basically making him become trapped in here.

Other people, like Edward Snowden, will leak info to try to better inform the people, whomever they might be. For example, Edward Nnowden, who leaked classified files and is the sole person who informed us about how the NSA might be spying on us, is now in asylum in Russia as the U.S is calling him a traitor and there is a 75% certainty that he will not have a fair trial at all. I think this is wrong because we wouldn’t even know that the NSA was spying on us and he only leaked documents that would inform us of their spying, and nothing that would betray national secrets unlike what the government suggests. The only “wrong thing” that he did was leak all those documents  to those reporters who published them without discrepancy.

And finally, some people will do really bad things just to further their reputation or do further themselves, whether it be money or whatever else. For Example, Michael Calce in 2000 , who was only 15-16 at the time of is hacks, began a denial of service attack on very large companies (Myspace, google, yahoo etc.) which basically just crashed the company's website servers and made the websites unable to be used. This is attempted by flooding the website with different requests which just crashes the server. What did he do this for? Revenge? Awareness for a cause? No… he did it for reputation. This young kid got busted after he was caught bragging on an ONLINE CHAT ROOM about his hack.

The world can be harsh sometimes, but the world should also have some common sense. I have seen more advocates for Julian Assange online than advocates for Edward Snowden. This is why the america I believe in knows the difference between a person doing something for bragging rights, doing something to harm our nation out of spite, our doing something that might harm our nation to show the people that something Illegal is going on.

The moon shown through the fence as me and my friend hopped over. The moon gleamed over the small swing set with a kiddie slide and a small rock wall. Suddenly, a dog started barking from inside the tall dark house straight in front of us. The screen door grinded against its post as my friend opened it, stalling the chirping of crickets for a couple of seconds. He shouted trough the screen door as I was on top of the fence: "Lets walk around the neighborhood tomorrow.
Just before I could give him a thumbs up a huge bang and the following shock-wave blew me into the cold, wet grass. A orange bright crackling sound replaced where his grill was a second ago. Suddenly, a branch fell down and nearly hit me as the popping of wet wood and flames met in the air. Sirens slowly wailed in the background as I broke through the screen door and grabbed my friend and his parents. We watched as the black house turned bright and faded out into darkness even darker than before. Pitch black one could say besides the red and blue lights beside us.
